More Shameful, Unfounded Accusations,
\n<\/strong>And More Proof That We Need Change in Addison

I thought I\u2019d seen it all from the incumbents and their supporters. Today they sunk to a new low.\u00a0 The \u201cfacts-don\u2019t-matter\u201d tabloid now accuses the three challengers and\/or their supporters of placing poop on an Addison resident\u2019s doormat.\u00a0 And, a little dab on an incumbent\u2019s sign.<\/p>\n

It is patently absurd. Needless to say, there is not one shred of evidence to support these ridiculous, wild, unfounded accusations.\u00a0 Not a shred.\u00a0 Not a scintilla.\u00a0 Zero.\u00a0 Their claims are 100% without support.\u00a0 But that didn\u2019t stop them from making them, did it?\u00a0 They are now actually using poop \u2013 literally poop \u2013 to try to influence the election.<\/p>\n

These \u201cfacts-don\u2019t-matter\u201d folks continue to be remarkably unconstrained by reality, by facts, or by truth. Again and again they have misled Addison\u2019s voters.\u00a0 It is beyond shameful.\u00a0 But today is a new low.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s agree on the obvious: no one should wake up to poop on their doormat. It\u2019s disgusting, it\u2019s inappropriate, and it\u2019s mean-spirited.\u00a0 It\u2019s a violation of one\u2019s property, and the victim has every right to be upset and angry.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been there.\u00a0 As a councilmember, my property was vandalized on a number of occasions, and I never had any doubt that it was directly related to my service on council.\u00a0 I feel the victim\u2019s pain.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the thing. The victim\u2019s first shot out of the box was to send a rather hostile email to one of the three non-incumbent challengers.\u00a0 Why would the victim do that?\u00a0 And, how convenient that at about the same time, the \u201cfacts-don\u2019t-matter\u201d drivel was published via email.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not hard to infer that the victim was encouraged to assume that it must have been \u201cthem.\u201d How disgraceful that these incumbents and their supporters would stoop to such tactics.<\/p>\n

The referenced email exchange evolved into a very civil and respectful dialog. Most importantly, the victim was candid in stating that they had no idea who did this.\u00a0 They were then provided with a copy of the accusatory \u201cfacts matter\u201d email, to which they responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one knows who vandalized my property. So what is stated below is inaccurate.\u00a0 Sorry.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

And there it is in black and white: the accusations are indeed wild, unsubstantiated and without any basis whatsoever. Effectively, the victim was victimized a second time by being thrust into the falsely-cast, ridiculous accusations contained in the \u201cfacts matter\u201d email.\u00a0 Truly, there is no level beneath which these \u201cfacts-really-don\u2019t-seem-to-matter\u201d folks won\u2019t stoop.\u00a0 And that speaks volumes.<\/p>\n

I assume that since the emails were copied to the Addison police that the police were contacted and are investigating. I hope they find the person or persons responsible, and I fully support all efforts to prosecute whoever was involved.<\/p>\n

What I don\u2019t support is wild, unfounded accusations being made in an effort to improperly influence the election. The incumbents have to be desperate to sink to such levels.\u00a0 And the \u201cfacts-don\u2019t-matter\u201d faux newsletter folks have made my point yet again: the facts and the truth and reality just don\u2019t matter to these people.<\/p>\n

Addison and its residents deserve far better than to be constantly barraged with these inappropriate tactics.<\/p>\n
